Rising 7th and 8th Grade Academic Advising Information
Each student at Sandburg Middle School will take seven classes each semester. Five of the seven classes are required for all students: English, Math, Social studies, Science, and Physical education. The remaining two classes can be a combination of yearlong and/or semester classes from the following departments: Visual or Performing Arts, Theatre, Business and Information Technology, Family and Consumer Science, World Languages, Engineering, and General electives.
Sandburg Middle School also provides classes for our students that receive Advanced Academic Program (AAP) Level IV, Special Education, and English Learner (EL) 1-4 services.

Mount Vernon HS Curriculum Night will take place on January 24th at 5:30-7:30 pm at Mount Vernon High School.
West Potomac HS Curriculum Nigh will take place on January 10th at 6 pm at West Potomac High School.

Rising 9th Grade at Mount Vernon High School Information
Mt. Vernon High School and Sandburg Middle School counselors will meet during their Health/PE class periods. Rising 9th Grade at West Potomac High School Information
Counselors from Sandburg MS and West Potomac HS will meet with students during their Health/PE class periods. Please refer to the West Potomac HS Academic Advising page for more details.
West Potomac HS will be using the online course request feature available in StudentVUE. Students may login to StudentVUE and begin to select courses by clicking on the “Course Request” tab. This feature allows students to enter their courses prior to meeting with their school counselor, maximizing the time they have during individual academic advising.
