Students were getting their heart rates elevated in PE class with hula hoops. Look at this student go! Sandburg FACS teacher, Miss Jones, taught the DIVAS and Man to Man leadership groups about dining etiquette. Mr. Hamilton's students worked with power equipment to produce wooden structures. Mrs. Hill's students learned all about supply, demand, and export costs during Market Day. 7th Grade Science students learned how to test water quality during the MWEE field trip. Mr. Tyborowski's students worked collaboratively to pitch their ideas during the Civics Shark Tank activity. Mr. Guadenzi's Art Foundations students designed colorful and creative Mixed Media Self-Portraits. Ms. Holmes and Mr. Gibson created an interactive food web during the MWEE field trip at Accotink Park. Ms. McAllister's Civics class launched SOL Review with a game of Kahoot! Students examined sections of Accotink Lake looking for living organisms during the Science 7 MWEE field trip. This Science 8 class used a motion detector to trace and graph our movements! Some of our Sandburg Panthers modeling runoff at Accotink Park. A guest choreographer visits the Advanced Theatre class to teach them the opening routine to One from Chorus Line. The Builder's Club made stress balls for Teacher Appreciation Week!. FCPS teachers learned engaging strategies using inquiry to increase rigor at Sandburg's AVID for College PD workshop. Mr. Gaudenzi's 3D Art classes display their Cardboard Portraits in the Art Gallery. A student leads the reading group in Ms. Moran's class. Students remember the Holocaust by sharing the stories of different Holocaust victims. Students in this Algebra class were tasked with teaching their classmates a new concept. Sandburg teachers and staff were treated to a delicious catered lunch for Teacher Aprreciation Week. Sandburg students and staff had a great time at the Kiwanis Student Leadership Programs Night. Mr. Labue's class' scientific investigation for the day tested the elasticity of different brands of gum. Ms. Marshall's class took advantage of our lovely courtyard to check out our school's biodiversity. Service Honoree Ms. Crowley with our Sandburg Chorus at Reagan Airport honoring military veterans. AVID students did a great job presenting this year’s highlights during the CCI Certification visit. Ms. Brennell's students learn that a little competition can make learning more fun during this math workshop. The Builders Club filled over 250 bags of trail mix for the needy in our area! Celebrating our amazing Sandburg staff during Teacher Appreciatioin Week with ice cream. Such wonderful collaboration between Sandburg MS and West Potomac HS, as well as staff from the Office of Student Safety and Wellness on Parent Information Night! Ms. Morthole is helping her students work through Shakespeare’s English before analyzing one of his plays. Sandburg musicians do an excellent job and bring home some trophies from this year's "Music in the Park" competition. FACS 8 students enjoy their yummy ground turkey taco lab. Science 8 students combined elements to invent some creative compounds. Seventh grade students applying skills of a historian as they determine who started the Cold War. Sometimes you just need to take a break and visit the ducks! Mr. Hamilton's technology classes test distance and velocity during this rocket launch activity. Winners of the Civics Sol challenge are treated to a pizza party in the courtyard. Students in Mrs. Larrick's class use question stems to analyze primary source photographs. Sandburg teachers working in the cafeteria with flexible groups of students to reinforce English concepts.
