DSS Smith was proud to represent Carl Sandburg and our school counseling team at Congress for a discussion focused on Social Emotional Learning. Mr. Ertekin's Science students work diligently to finish their cell theory posters and to view cat esophagus cells. Ms. Howe's Math students are rocking this Function workshop! Ms Morthole’s students are using color-coded visuals to make sure their essays stay concise and on point. Ms. Leath is facilitating stations in her 8th grade Math class. Ms. Reed's Civics class is learning about the Separation of Powers. Ms. Trainer's students are engaged in an interactive mapping activity. Mr. Nuhfer's classes are moving through HPE stations. Madame Perry's classes are developing great questions and answers about personal descriptions while playing pioche. Congratulations to Ms. Fulghum, the Sandburg and West Potomac Pyramid Teacher of the Year. Ms. Fulghum's Science 8 class is charged about generating and measuring electrical energy! Ms. Howe shares her problem-solving skills with fellow FCPS math teachers. Students are focused during reading class with Ms. Owens. Students in Ms. DeLeon's class demonstrate their science skills. DIVAS participate in the school-wide reading initiative by reading "Make Lemonade" by Virginia Euwer Wolff. Ms. Niebuhr's 7th grade History class participate in an Imperialism simulation. 200 FACS students kick off FCCLA Week by planting seeds for our student body garden! The Builder's Club make dog toys from donated jeans for the local animal shelter. Congratulations to this Sandburg student who earned a spot in the 2018 District 10 Middle School Honors Chorus. Sandburg staff welcome rising 7th graders and their families at Curriculum Night. Ms. Hassan's students brainstorm "big questions" in preparation for a Socratic Seminar. The Science Club completes an Experimental Design Diagram to determine the best material to make a stress ball. Ms. Brown's classes are learning to code!
