Celebrating Family Stories: A Community Literacy Project
We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our family engagement literacy project! Inspired by the research of Dr. Sujin Kim and led by Mrs. Janira Collado, families from our school community were invited to share their stories. These stories were compiled into books, which were presented to the families on Thursday, May 09.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Mr. Richard Pollio, ESOL director for Fairfax Public Schools; Dr. Sujin Kim, Assistant Professor at George Mason University; Dr. Woomee Kim, Postdoctoral Fellow & Project Coordinator at George Mason University; and Ms. Micheline B. Lavalle, Family Literacy Specialist, Office for ESOL Services.
This project exemplifies the power of family engagement in education and the importance of storytelling in our community. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to this project's success.
Thank you for being a part of this meaningful journey with us!
