We are thrilled to announce that Coach Ty Augustin, our esteemed Middle School Athletics Coordinator and dedicated teacher at Sandburg Middle School, has been awarded the prestigious Region 3 Outstanding Teacher of the Year! This remarkable achievement highlights Coach Augustin's unwavering commitment to excellence in education and her significant contributions to our school community.

Coach Augustin's impact as a teacher and athletics coordinator is truly exceptional. Her innovative approach to athletic programming, including the successful launch of our middle school athletics program, has provided valuable opportunities for students to participate in a variety of sports and activities. Through her leadership, Coach Augustin has organized and coordinated athletic events, practices, and clubs ensuring a safe and positive experience for all student-athletes.

Beyond the athletic field, Coach Augustin has had a profound influence on student-athletes' academic success, character development, and overall well-being. Her emphasis on sportsmanship, teamwork, and character development has fostered a culture of respect and integrity within our athletics program. Additionally, Coach Augustin has provided mentorship and support to student-athletes, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and leadership skills both on and off the field.

Serving as Sandburg's MentorWorks Coordinator, Coach Ty works closely with staff and community mentors to reach various groups of students helping them to meet needs and work towards achieving goals with support of a trusted adult. As one of her focuses, she increased mentee matches by 50% is working to increase opprotunities for those identified students

As  the School Wellness Lead, Mrs. Augustin works on the MTSS Tier 1 Behavior and Wellness team taking on such tasks as establishing Wellness Activities Campaigns, coordinating School wide Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Out among other activities.

This prestigious award is a testament to Coach Augustin's exemplary leadership, dedication, and impact on our school community. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and grateful for her tireless dedication to our students' success.
