Leadership Student Give Back to their Community

The two leadership classes led by Mr. Rodriguez and Mr. Ruelas recently completed their first semester community service project. The goal was to collect 100 coats or jackets and various personal hygiene products for local families of Carl Sandburg Middle School and Hybla Valley Elementary School communities. The two classes collaborated with Ms. Royanian, our school social worker, Ms. Ramirez, our parent liaison, Ms. Amelunge, the parent liaison from Hybla Valley Elementary School.

The leadership classes exceeded their goal! The classes collected and organized 111 Jackets, most of which were brand new, 65 goodie bags made up of 1,105 food items, 60 personal hygiene gift bags made up of 900 items, 15 gift bags of winter hats, gloves, socks, coloring books, and crayons.

More importantly, the leadership students learned some valuable lessons in volunteering and making a real difference in their own community.

The leadership classes would like to thank our very generous donors that donated jackets, food, personal hygiene products and money.
